So, here's the story:1.) Our boss is awesome. He's a businessman, a tech master and a humanitarian at large. We think he's got a big heart and pretty good sense of humor, too. His name is Kiran.
2.) We're awesome. Oh, who are we? We're Lorrie, David and Jeremy. And we're combining our wonder powers with our boss and our counterparts in India and Nepal, in order to change the world, or at least the parts we can. We come from diverse backgrounds, ranging from non-profit management to software design, from social work to anthropology, and together we share a vision to restore hope to school children everywhere. We think that either makes us a strong team or delusional, but we'll settle for strong team.
3.) We have a lot to write about, a lot to say, and a lot to do. Right now, we're scrambling to lay the groundwork for our departure to the Sub Continent on Monday the 6th. Did I mention we're scrambling?
4.) We wanted to get this blog up and running, so our family, friends and global community can follow our adventures, share their thoughts, and be inspired to partner with our initiative.
5.) What is the LaVya Initiative? Well, right now, it's an idea, a concept in all our heads. But, here's what we're thinking:
Our company, N2SGlobal, is multifaceted. Part of what we do involves building and designing software interfaces for corporations and academic institutions. Another part of what we do is philanthropy. At present, we're restructuring our current foundation, in order to incorporate our vision of truly leaving no child behind. We're off to India and Nepal on a fact-finding mission, in order to discern the issues surrounding brain drain with the teachers, social problems keeping attendance low, social problems at large in target areas, and to formulate programs and partnerships to address them. Adding to that, is integrating technology into the classrooms, as well as the academic institutions themselves.
It's a tall order, but we're up for the challenge! Please join us on this journey. We promise you won't be disappointed.
